Abstract: |
In urban India, RC frame buildings have been widely constructed for multi-storey commercial as well as residential uses. Most of them have the ground soft storey for parking purpose to cut back the land use, i.e., the ground storey is left open, suggests that columns of the ground storey do not have any infill wall between them. The upper storeys of these kinds of building move nearly along as a single block and most of the horizontal displacement of the building occur within the soft ground storey itself. RC frame buildings having ground soft storey, shown poor performance during past earthquakes. In Ahmedabad, over 100 of RC frame buildings having ground soft storeys collapsed during the 2001 Bhuj earth-quake. So, provision for seismic analysis of building without considering infill wall modelling is provided in IS 1893 part 1:2002. The document refers to compare the behavior of existing Building with or without considering effect of with or without infill wall in STAAD PRO software and relate the outcomes with IS 1893 part 1 2002 provision From the study, it is concluded that is Codal provision is in conservative aspect for building having regularity in plan. |
